Madekwe comes from an ethnically diverse family in South London in England. The father of her is Nigerian and Swiss as well as her mom is English. Her family was raised in a south London community estate, where she attended The Brit School at age fourteen. She studied acting at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London. Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 with The dramatic The Beautiful Life. The series aired only two episodes prior to being ended on The CW. She was cast in February 2011, as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe's exit from the series was confirmed in May 2013. After two years as a main character, she was a guest in the opening episode of season three. She was Tituba in the show Salem between 2014 and. Madekwe, along with her boyfriend for many years, Iddo Goldenberg, were married in June 2012. They've collaborated on Secret Diary of a Call Girl and he also had a role alongside her in the television series Salem.

Ashley Leggat, a twice Gemini nominated actress, was raised in a huge family living in Hamilton, Ontario. Ashley Leggat joined Roy and Patty and her other siblings, Brett, Todd and Bram and Rob.
