Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Roberts belongs to the fourth generation of Robertses that live in the Atlanta region, beginning by her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Her father had an early interest in the theatre. When he was a college pupil at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of many productions. He joined the Air Force and while stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi acted in a production together with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in 2005 and had their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. Walter went to Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after he left the Airforce in 1957. Walter became a member of Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio at the time the family relocated from Atlanta to Decatur, Georgia in the year 1960. In 1964 Walter along with Betty Lou began production on a local children's Saturday morning TV show named Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed on their own. Later that year they founded The Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for six years. Lelisa Billingsley who is also referred to as Lisa, was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
