Her debut song Here came out in 2015. The track received praise by music critics as well as listeners. In the Canadian Hot 100, and Billboard Hot 100, ranked it at 19. Even Rolling Stone named the song one of the Top Songs of 2015. In that same year she debuted her album Know It All with the third single Scars to Your Beautiful being one of five original tracks that peaked at Billboard charts including those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track was distinctive due to the fact that many listeners were able to relate to the conversation she conducted with rapper Rap-Up on her journey in learning to love and embrace her. Cara has a reputation for including messages on emotional health, kindness, and love of self in her songs. The inspiration for her music is drawn from her own personal journey as she has struggled with mental health issues and insomnia. When she spoke to Reuters she declared her album to be "half tumultuous" and "half flawless". She found that therapy helped her grow and urges people to try it too. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. Her birth date was July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian heritage. Her parents gifted her with an instrument when she was 10. This was her beginning in music. She began covering her favourite songs at age 13, to prove to the world she could sing and had the confidence required to become an artist. Sweater Weather became her most popular song. The record label EP Entertainment EP Entertainment, noticed her and allowed her to write songs.
