The music that she has written stems from her personal struggles to conquer mental health issues and insomnia. When she spoke to Reuters the singer described her album as "half tumultuous" as well as "half complete". She found that therapy helped her grow and urges people to try it too. Alessia Cara is a Canadian performer who was born on July 11, 1996, to parents who are of Italian heritage. The guitar was gifted to her by her parents when she turned 10 which ignited her passion for music. She started covering the songs she loved at 13, to prove to everyone that she was a talented musician and the courage necessary to be the next singer.
